The training was organised by VLIR-UOS project and coordinated by Prof Jayne Mugwe. It was a six-day training from 8th to 10th and from 14th to 16th September, 2020, from 0900 to 1330 hrs. The training was conducted virtually in observation of the covid-19 regulation in Kenya. The objective of the training was to train the VLIR-UOS project students on proposal development, data management and analysis and scientific writing. The training is part of building the scientific capacity of the student in the project as per the project objective. Other post graduate students from different University, especially the ones being supervised by the VLIR-UOS project members, were also invited for the training. A total of 52 student participants from six Universities in Kenya and Ethiopia, different degree programs, and at different stages of their studies joined the training.
The resource persons were Dr Vincent Oeba from Kenya Forestry Research Institute and Professor Jayne Mugwe from Kenyatta University (Project Member). The moderators during the sessions included Prof Monica-Mucheru Muna (Project member), Prof George Nyabuga (Project member), Isaya Vincent Sijali (Project member) and Dr Hezron Mogaka from University of Embu.
